Case Requirements and Curriculum
The program curriculum includes general, colorectal, oncologic, transplant, and pediatric surgery with the primary focus on research and developing and learning new surgical technique. Fellows are exposed to all major minimally invasive surgery techniques and have the opportunity to spend additional time in areas of special interest to them. Their time will be divided 80/20 between clinical time and ongoing research activities. Expected case load for graduation is 300 cases with 90% being laparoscopic and 10% open. Fellows must log cases in the databank at the Fellowship Council and each Fellow's log will be checked periodically throughout the year by the Program Director.
