Medical
Insurance
Family medical insurance is provided free of charge
through the Florida Hospital Insurance Plan. Physician
medical care co-pay is covered for office visits
in all Residency offices.
Prescription
Plan
The Florida Hospital Prescription Plan is the policy
for all employees of Florida Hospital.
Malpractice
Insurance
Occurrence-based malpractice insurance is provided
at no cost.
Vacation/Personal
Time
Residents receive four weeks vacation/personal time
each year. Major holidays are also off except when
scheduled for holiday call. Compensation days off
are offered for holidays worked.
Education
Allowance
The education allowance is as follows:

First-year residents receive $500 toward the purchase
of a PDA if one is not already owned, or may be used for books, software or conference.
- Second-year
residents receive a five-day leave to attend conferences
and expenses reimbursed up to $800. Surgical loupes should be purchased at the end of this year, and the allowance can be used toward the cost of loupes. The department currently has a Grant that allows us to supplement $750 toward the purchase of loupes.
- Third-year
residents receive a five-day leave to attend conferences
and expenses reimbursed up to $1300.
- Fourth-
and fifth-year residents receive a five-day leave
to attend conferences and expenses reimbursed
up to $1500.
Professional
Fees
The residency provides for membership dues to the
ACS along with USMLE III, Florida State Medical
License and DEA license fees. The cost of certification
classes such as ACLS, FLS and ATLS are covered as necessary
for meeting program requirements.
All
first-year residents must take and pass USMLE III
prior to completion of their first year of training and submit application for full medical licensure within three months of that date.
Uniforms
Residents have two white coats initially and one
each year thereafter.
Meals
Residents receive all meals at no cost while on
duty.
Parking
Parking is free and there is designated physician
parking. |
