Our patient simulation lab is one of the few in the country devoted to training Family Medicine Skills. The simulations provide realistic, hands-on experiences in a controlled, safe environment before interacting with real patients. Simulations include:
-
A full body simulator for ACLS training.
-
A pregnant simulator with newborn for obstetrical procedures and emergencies.
-
Joint-injection simulators.
-
Dermatology procedure simulators, including toenail removal.
-
Procedures consult: a comprehensive online program with videos and step-by-step instructions that can be quickly reviewed before performing a procedure.
Florida Hospital Community After Hours Clinic for the Uninsured
A non-urgent clinic for the uninsured was established in 2003 to provide care during evening and weekend hours. More than 20,000 patients have been seen since the clinic's opening in 2003. Residents have the opportunity to volunteer and/or moonlight at the clinic. You can follow us on Facebook.

Active Research and Scholarly Program
Residents participate in scholarly work throughout 3 years. Both residents and faculty have opportunities to present nationally and internationally. Our residency program has been the recipient of multiple awards and grants to fund this research.
International Mission Trips
In partnership with Florida Hospital, we participate in a variety of mission trips annually.
An annual women's health trip to Mexico focuses on cervical cancer screenings and treatment including pap smears, colposcopy, cryotherapy and LEEPs.
