Inpatient Rotations:  The intern inpatient experience is based at Florida Hospital Orlando, a 1300 bed, tertiary care center that is the second largest hospital in Florida. The senior inpatient rotations occur at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, a 300 bed community hospital that treats 15,000 patients annually.

Outpatient Office: Our brand new facility, the Centre for Family Medicine, opened in June 2010 and is located on the campus of Winter Park Memorial Hospital. Average office time per week is 1 half-day for PGY-1, 3 half-days for PGY-2, and 4 half-days for PGY-3, in addition to many specialty clinics directed by the faculty. Residents also rotate through the VA Outpatient Facility in Orlando in many of their specialty clinics. Seniors perform nursing home visits at two nursing facilities on a monthly basis.

Electronic Medical Record System: Our residents have used the same EMR for the 15 years. EpicCare© is the most successful Ambulatory EMR in the healthcare IT industry with proven features that streamline care processes, improve the community-wide health, and strengthen the patient-provider relationship. Our residents have access to EpicCare© in the hospital, at home or anywhere via the web.

Academic Time: Conferences are an integral part of the residency curriculum. Each Thursday afternoon is set aside for lectures and/or workshops that cover the core content of Family Medicine. Wednesdays are reserved for guest speakers from a variety of disciplines.

CALL SCHEDULE:
Night float system in place for pediatrics and OB. Seniors take home call for the Family Medicine Inpatient Services. Residents share weekend and holiday call.
