Inpatient Rotations: The intern inpatient rotations are facilitated
by Florida Hospital Orlando a 1000+ bed, acute-care health care
system,
servicing Central Florida and the surrounding counties with
a comprehensive network of physicians.
Florida Hospital is the largest private, non-for-profit
hospital and second largest hospital overall in Florida. The senior inpatient rotations are facilitated by Florida Hospital Winter Park, a 300+ bed acute care facility that is a model of community health and wellness. There are approximatey 15,000 patients treated each year.
Outpatient Office:
The residents receive office practice training
in an outpatient setting experience facilitated
by the Centre for Family Medicine. More than 48,000 patients
visit the outpatient center each year. Our brand new facility opened in June 2010 and is located on the campus of Winter Park Memorial Hospital. Average office time is about
1 half-day per week for PGY1, 3 half-days per week
for PGY2 and 4 half-days per week for PGY3. The residents also gain valuable outpatient experience in specialty clinics at the VA Outpatient Facility in Orlando on a rotating basis. Seniors also provide nursing home visits on a monthly basis.
Electronic
Medical Record System: Documentation
of patient care is done using an “Electronic Medical
Record” or EMR called EPIC. EpicCare© is the
most successful Ambulatory EMR in the healthcare IT industry
with proven features that streamline care processes, improve
community-wide health, and strengthen the patient-provider
relationship.
There are occasional 24 hour home call on weekends and holidays. Our residents have access to EpicCare© in the hospital, at home or anywhere via the web.
Academic Time:
Conferences are an integral part of the residency curriculum. Each Thursday afternoon is set aside for lectures and/or workshops that cover the core content of Family Medicine. These lectures will involve distinguished guest speakers and/or Family Medicine attendings and seniors. The first and third Thursdays are required attendance for all. The second and fourth Thursdays are required for the interns and those not scheduled in the Centre for Family Medicine office.
CALL SCHEDULE:
