Dr. Portoghese has been a member of the medical staff of Florida Hospital Since 1989 and was President of the Medical Staff from 2004-2006. As Florida Hospital moved forward into the medical edcuation arena, Dr. Portoghese was selected to become Program Director of the General Surgery Residency Program, which was first accredited in 2006. Dr. Portoghese is a graduate of the University of South Florida College of Medicine where he also completed his residency training. While in private practice since completion of his training, he has focused on general surgery. Dr. Portoghese has been a clerkship faculty for Florida State University College of Medicine since 2002 and was appointed Associate Professor of Surgery for the University of Central Florida college of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Portoghese is Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.
