Dr.
Birenbaum received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical
College in Philadelphia in 1989. After serving as Chief
Resident of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital's Emergency
Medicine Residency Dr. Birenbaum remained at Jefferson
as faculty until 1997. He then became the Director of
Emergency Medicine education for Shands Hospital at the
University of Florida. Dr. Birenbaum joined Florida Emergency
Physicians as the Academic Director in 2000 and became
the Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency
program in 2005 which received ACGME accreditation in
2007.
Dr Birenbaum was appointed Academic Chairman in January
2007.
He
is the founder and Program Director of Florida Emergency
Physicians Symposium on Emergency Medicine, now in its
8th year and one of the State's most successful programs.
He
served as the Assistant Medical Director of the Emergency
Department at Florida Hospital South Orlando, was the
Orange County EMS Liaison and a board member of the
Florida College of Emergency Physicians.
He
actively worked with the Florida Hospital Neuroscience
institute in developing the first Stroke Team in Central
Florida which became a designated Stroke Center in January
of 2005.
Dr. Birenbaum lives with his family in Southwest
Orlando. He is committed to excellence
in Emergency Medicine education.
